    A lead magnet is a free, valuable resource — guide, checklist, audit, calculator, or template — offered in exchange for a visitor's contact information.

    A good lead magnet trades a small amount of friction (form fill) for an outsized perceived value. For service businesses the highest-converting magnets are diagnostic and personalized: a free website audit, a custom estimate, a savings calculator, or a benchmark report against local competitors. Generic ebooks underperform. The lead magnet's job isn't just to capture an email — it's to qualify the lead and start the relationship with proof of expertise.
